Smart ClubUpstream developed and hosts an SMS mechanism for SHELL which enables its SMART Club members to find out their points balance and receive customised messaging in terms of their status regarding the loyalty club prizes and offers.
Objectives
Shell faced an issue common to most loyalty programs: the minute consumers lose track of their points balance or misplace their gift brochure which explains what gifts are available for what points, they lose interest in the program. Upstream was briefed to solve this issue using the mobile as a point of reference for points and ensure consumers could easily access all the information they need as well as be actively prompted through personalized SMS messages.
The Service
Our team developed an automated system, where members send in an SMS and instantly receive their updated account balance. The mobile system is integrated with SHELL’s already existing channels of communication: IVR and Call center.
SHELL has also used the SMS to prompt usage of the card and inform its members about new products & services, special offers, as well as upcoming promotional competitions and events.
Upstream and SHELL are working closely on offering a number of new services in the near future.
